Estonia voted in favour of draft resolution ES-10/L.31.rev1 because of our unwavering commitment to an international law based multilateral system. It also means compliance with the norms of international law, including the UN Charter, by all UN members.
We support the International Court of Justice as the main judicial body of the United Nations to ensure compliance with international law and the peaceful settlement of all disputes. We are convinced that relying on international law will help us move towards a two-state solution and ensure both the security of Israel and the future of Palestine.
We express our unwavering commitment to Israel’s right to self-defence and security in light of the threats from Hamas and other terrorist groups. Israel´s legitimate security concerns must be addressed in the process of ending the occupation.
To de-escalate tensions in the region, we call for the immediate and unconditional implementation of Security Council Resolution 2735, which proposes a comprehensive three-phase ceasefire deal to end the war in Gaza and release the hostages.
