White House National Security Officials and Baltic Countries’ Ambassadors to Participate in Baltic Studies Conference‘s Opening Plenary Session
Chicago, IL April 2nd, 2012 – The 23rd biannual conference of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) will begin on Thursday, April 26 with an opening plenary roundtable session, entitled The Baltic Countries in a Globalizing World: The Next Twenty Years.
Participants in the discussion will include the Ambassadors to the USA – Marina Kaljurand (Estonia), Žygimantas Pavilionis (Lithuania), and Andrejs Pildegovičs (Latvia). They will be joined by Benjamin Rhodes (Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting to the President of the USA) and Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall (Senior Director for European Affairs National Security Council, The White House). The senior White House national security officials will speak about the Obama Administration’s foreign policy, the Administration’s commitment to European security and to Central and Eastern Europe, and how our Alliances are strengthened by new Allies. The session will be moderated by AABS board member, Bradley D. Woodworth (University of New Haven / Yale University).
