Estonian Ambassador to the United StatesMarina Kaljurand participated in the meeting on anti-Semitism organized by theNCSJ (National Conference on Soviet Jewry) Board of Governors on June 11, 2013.
Ambassador Kaljurand gave athorough overview of the history of the Jewish Community in Estonia, currentsituation as well as Estonian Government’s dedicated approach in addressingissues related to anti-Semitism and Holocaust.
The aim of the meeting was todiscuss the situation in the Jewish communities in Europe and Eurasia.Participants of the meeting included representatives of the Jewish communitiesfrom the U.S., Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
Speeches were delivered also by U.S.Deputy Assistant Secretary Daniel Russel, Kazakh Ambassador to the U.S. MrKairat Umarov and Haifa University Professor Dr Brenda Shaffer.
The mission of NCSJ is to support Jewish communities in the States on theterritory of the former Soviet Union, to foster cooperation among the U.S.government, U.S. Jewish organizations and to secure their religious andpolitical freedoms.
