The Estonian Minister of Education and Research, Mr. Jaak Aaviksoo is on a visit to the United States from the 24th until the 26th October. He has meetings on the curricula of cyber security and research cooperation in cyber security. In the U.S., October is the annual cyber security month.
The Minister has meetings scheduled with the representatives of several universities of Washington DC and the state of Maryland. The sister state of Estonia, Maryland, is actively trying to develop its cyber security capability.
During his visit, the Minister will introduce the future Estonian Science Agency and the objectives of creating the Estonian IT Academy. These institutions will offer new possibilities for intensifying international cooperation in research and higher education. The issues of the NATO cyber security center and the European Union IT Agency to be established in Estonia will be discussed.
Mr Aaviksoo will be one of the key note speakers at the second annual Security Innovation Network Showcase and will participate in a panel discussion at an event organized by the Brookings Institution.
The Minister will also meet with the local Estonians and will give an overview of current education reforms in Estonia.
