US embassy to join Estonian garbage collection campaign

TALLINN, Apr 09, BNS – The embassy of the United States said that it would accede to the Estonian garbage collection campaign to take place at the beginning of May.

A team headed by Ambassador Stanley Davis Phillips and deputy head of the mission Karen Decker was set up at the embassy.

The team of volunteers will include both diplomats and local employees, the main aim being to clear an illegal dump in the neighborhood of the embassy.

The embassy pointed out that involvement of volunteers in projects important for the society was a tradition well rooted in the United States.

Organizers of the campaign, which will take place on May 3, said on Monday that more than 10,000 people had already listed themselves as volunteer garbage collectors.
